Pocheon - Herb Island





Located in Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do and established in 1998, Herb Island is a tourist attraction that focuses on growing Mediterranean herbs. Additional attractions include the crafting experience, herb museum, aroma therapy center, herb restaurant, herbs beef ribs, herb bakery, herbs-related souvenir shop and more.
Various events and festivals take place every month and visitors are welcomed to watch cultural performances held at Venice Village performance stage every weekend for free.







1. Transportation
A. Shuttle Bus (Doore Bus) Tour Package
    Saturday, Sunday, and National Holiday: 9:30am at exit 9 of City Hall Station of Line 2 and return at 5:00pm from Herb Island (Morning departure)
    Saturday: 3:00pm at exit 9 of City Hall Station of Line 2 and return at 9:30pm from Herb Island (Afternoon departure)
    Price: KRW13,500 (including bus fare)


B. Public Transportation
    Soyosan Mt. Station of subway Line 1 -> Bus no. 57 or 57-1 at the bus stop across the street
    7:50 am and every 1 hour to Herb Island at the station, last bus at 7:50 pm
    6:30 am and every 1 hour to the station from Herb Island, last bus at 7:25 pm

2. The herbs and plants museum
    It is the largest indoor herb garden in the world and you can see 340 types of herbs.



 3. Santa’s Village
     Santa's Village, located deep in the mountain surrounded by the forest of nut pines full of phytoncide, is the healing place where you can enjoy the atmosphere of Christmas all year long.







4. Mini Zoo
    Mini Zoo is an open natural learning space that helps children cultivate their sensibilities and appreciate animals and nature.




5. Herbs Museum
   The Herbs Museum is where you can watch, feel and experience herbs from the Mediterranean area which have been consumed as food, drink and medicine since BC 5000.


6. Flower & Waterfall Garden
    You can find various herb flowers from the flower garden with herbs from nature. And, the waterfall garden with a stream of water is decorated as the place where you can enjoy resting comfortably with the sound of water.






7. Street to the Past 
    The streets shown from the 1970s to 1980s are reproduced with small alleys including a photo studio, old classroom, herbal medicine shop, Oki store, coffee shop and comic book rental store.




8. Secret France Pension
    Secret France was opened following the styling’s of a small French town and expressed the secret inner side of prominent figures and items from France through Herb Island's own unique style.



9. Lightning & Illumination Festival
    Herb Island Lighting & Illumination Festival features a romantic ambience created by splendid lightnings. It is comprised of a pink wish tunnel, sparkling buildings, Santa Village, photo zone and other twinkling places for visitors to enjoy.
