Seoul - Seooreung Royal Tomb

Seooreung royal tombs are the second-biggest group of royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty and they are located at Goyang (15 minutes from Eungam Station by bus 702A). They consist of five "reung (or neung)", two "won", and one" myo". It opens from 06 am to 18pm at a cost of KRW1,000.
* "Reung (or Neung)"  is a tomb for a king or a queen, "won" is a tomb for a crown prince or crown princess, and "myo" is a tomb for other people.
The royal tombs of Joseon Dynasty was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2009.

 

 

 

 

 

1. Sunchangwon Tomb

    Sunchangwon is the tomb of Crown Prince Sunhhoe, the son of King Myeongjonf (the 13th king of Joseon) and Crown Princess Gonghoebin. It is on the right side of the entrance.

 

2. Gyeongneung Royal Tomb
    A Gyeongneung Royal Tomb with double mounds on separate hills where King Deokjong (posthumously honored, the father of King Seongjong), the first son of King Sejo (the 7th king of Jeoseon), and Queen Sohye are buried.

 

 

3. Daebinmyo Tomb

    The tomb of Lady Jang, a royal concubine of King Sukjong (the 19th king of Joseon). Lady Jang is famous for the wicked woman to take improprities to become a queen. It is dealt with materials for drama. As her actions to oust queen Inhyeon proved to be true, she was put to death by poison. This tomb was moved from Gwangju in 1969.

 

 4. Hongneung Royal Tomb
    A royal tomb with a single mound, having the form of a twin-mounded tomb, where Queen Jeonseong, the first wife of King Yeongjo (the 21st king of Joseon) is buried.

 

 

5. Changneung Royal Tomb

    A royal tomb with double mounds on separate hills where King Yejong the 8th king of Joseon, and his second wife Queen Ansun are buried.

 

 

 

 

6. Ingneung Royal Tomb

    A royal tomb with a single mound where Queen Inkeong, the first wife of King Sukjong (the 19th king of Joseon), is buried.

 

 

 

7. Sukyeongwon Tomb

    The tomb of Crown Prince Sunhoe, the son of King Myeongjong (the 13th king of Joseon), and Crown Princess Gonghoebin.

 

8. Myeongneung Royal Tomb
    A royal tomb with twin mounds where King Sukjong, the 19th king of Joaeon, and his second wife Queen Inhyen are buried, and a royal tomb with a single mound where Queen Inwon, the third wife of King Sukjong, is buried.

 

   9. Red-Leaved Hornbeam and Koren Pine Tree Forest

       There are two beautiful walking paths with red-leaved hornbeam and Korean Pine Tree. It take around 1 hours to take a walk.
